Cleaning Different White Blinds Materials

September 25, 2023

Here’s a guide to keeping different kinds of white blinds clean, as prepared by the professional Florida blinds installation team here at Design Your Blinds.

Cleaning Aluminum Blinds

Metal blinds are often made of aluminum, and are regarded for their powerful durability. Aluminum blinds can withstand a ton of sun exposure with no damage. Metal blinds should be cleaned first with a dry rag to wipe off dust, and then with a mixture of gentle soap and water with a damp clean cloth.

Cleaning Wooden Blinds

Wooden blinds are often treated with a special finish to repel stains. They collect dust, and should be regularly dusted with a feather duster or the soft brush attachment of a vacuum. We recommend using a quality furniture polish to clean wood blinds. Spray the polish on the blinds and gently wipe each slat individually with a clean cloth.

Cleaning Faux Wood Blinds

Faux wood blinds are a popular alternative to wooden blinds, as they are much more affordable, and have somewhat easier cleaning. Faux wood blinds aren’t as badly affected by water, as they are much more resistant to moisture than regular wood. You can clean faux wood blinds simply with a soft clean rag and soap – just individually wipe down every slat.
